A Poster Session will take place on Saturday January 18th, 2020. We look forward to learning about the research the students have performed as undergraduates, either at their home institutions or during summer programs. Once you have been accepted to the UMD/NIST CUWIP, we will have a call for abstracts. During the poster sessions a fun competition will take with prizes being award late day.
We encourage all students attending CUWiP 2020 to submit posters, and the Category section on the Abstract template is meant to reflect the type of work you are presenting. If you plan to present on work done in a research group (i.e. campus research group, REU, industrial internship, etc.), choose Research. If you plan to present on work done through a classroom experience or on a classroom experience you have helped to develop (i.e. final course project, independent study thesis, teaching an introductory-level physics course, etc.), choose Coursework/Teaching. If you plan to present on an outreach or mentoring program you have initiated, choose Outreach/Mentoring. If your work does not fall into any of the above categories, choose Other.
The poster session during CUWiP 2020 will have two competitions: Judges’ Best Poster and Students’ Best Poster. For the Judges’ Best Poster competition, presenting students will be judged by UMD graduate students and faculty members according to a formal rubric. For the Students’ Best Poster competition, we invite all students attending CUWiP to vote for the best poster. There will be prizes (and bragging rights) for both competitions!
