Dr. Carmiña Londoño

Dr. Londoño worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology for 13 years. She was the group leader of the Global Standards and Information Group (GSIG). GSIG provided technical and policy support for standards and metrology to both the private sector and agencies of the U.S. Federal Government. 

Dr. Londoño served as a Congressional Science Fellow in 1994 at the U.S. House of Representatives sponsored by American Institute of Physics. Previously, Dr. Londoño was an optical engineer for 10 years with the Polaroid Corporation working on the design and testing of optical systems for medical and large scale consumer products. Earlier, she spent three years at the AVCO Everett Research Laboratory designing and building diffraction limited optical resonators for research on high-energy excimer lasers for the Strategic Defense Initiative.

Londoño received her PhD from the Electro-Optics Technology Center (Tufts University), MS in Optics (University of Arizona), and BS in Physics (University of Lowell). She is a fellow of the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) and served on the SPIE's Board of Directors for two elected terms.
