Kate Collins

I'm a third-year graduate student in Chris Monroe's research group at the Joint Quantum Institute at the University of Maryland. My research involves using lasers to wrangle ions into a trap and then to manipulate them to simulate complicated quantum systems. I began working with Chris Monroe as a freshman. The weirdness and unpredictability of quantum physics has intrigued me from the beginning.
